Peonies in a mason jar were a fixture at my house growing up. We had two circles of peony bushes beneath three lithe persimmon trees. It was ant heaven! They loved the flowers during the summer and the squished, gooey, fallen persimmons in autumn!

I felt so adult gathering them for my mother and using the ubiquitous mason jars, taken from our cellar, to be the vases. Jars and peonies just go together.

You have made your already inviting porch even more inviting with the peonies. The images it evokes for me are comforting.

I agree--jars and peonies just go together. A match made in heaven. And I like hearing about your childhood memories...

Great pic, Kelly. It really places me back in time at my grandma's house in the country in summer.
Wow, I can just hear the cicadas and smell the ozone in the air.
